In veterinary medicine, oxytetracycline is used in the form of a base, hydrochloride, and dihydrate. Oxytetracycline base is an amorphous light yellow substance, poorly soluble in water. Oxytetracycline is a tetracycline antibiotic used against a large number of sensitive bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative). It has proven itself well in the treatment of rickettsia, chlamydia, mycoplasma and spirochetes.
