Praziquantel is a synthetic compound, a quinoline derivative, that disrupts the permeability of cell membranes of helminths for calcium ions, which leads to inhibition of glucose metabolism, destruction of cell membranes in parasites, their paralysis and death. Pyrantel pamoate - a tetrahydro pyrimidine derivative, is active against nematodes of all forms of development, blocks the transmission of nerve impulses in neuromuscular synapses by depolarizing the membranes of muscle cells, thereby causing paralysis of the muscular system of the nematodes.
