Application:
The California Mastitis Test (KMT) is used to quickly assess the number of somatic cells in milk. CMT can also be used to check for somatic cells in milk after mastitis treatment. The test results cannot be taken as the final result.
Usage progress:
Clean each nipple separately.
Remove colostrum.
Pour milk samples from each quarter into separate vessels (scoops).
Leave 2-3 ml (approximately ½ teaspoon) for proper reaction with an equivalent amount of KMT test.
Add 2-3 ml of KMT test to each sample
Mix the solution in a circular motion with a spatula. Observe the reaction of changing the viscosity of the mixture. Read the result after 10 seconds. The reaction will disappear after a while. If in doubt, repeat the test.
Wash your shoulder blades gently after each use.
Evaluation of results
Negative result:
– the solution remains liquid, blue / gray and homogeneous. No clots.
Weakly positive result:
– slight thickening of the solution and the reaction may disappear (after about 10 seconds).
Positive result, suspected mastitis:
– thickening, the solution may look like a gel.
Strongly positive result, mastitis:
– the mixture hardens, the gel takes shape and becomes very viscous.
Special warnings for people using the test:
The Diapharm KMT test should not be used when the cow is producing colostrum, and not earlier than 3 days after calving. Avoid eye and skin contact when using. Wash your hands after use.

Storage
Store KMT in a place protected from light and from high and low temperatures. Sediments may occur if the product is stored at low temperatures. The solution can be used after warming up. It is recommended to store at room temperature (25 ° C).
