The mechanism of antiprotozoal action is based on inhibition of the process of aerobic glucose metabolism and DNA synthesis in piroplasmids, which causes their death.
After parenteral administration, the drug is rapidly absorbed and reaches its maximum concentration in the blood in 1-2 hours, the therapeutic concentration is maintained for 4-6 weeks.
Metabolized to a small extent, accumulates mainly in the kidneys and liver, excreted mainly in the feces, in small quantities in the urine.
