PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Stop-itch spray is a preparation with a complex effect on damaged and inflamed skin: it eliminates pain, relieves itching, swelling and irritation, effectively fights against pathogenic and opportunistic microbes on the skin. Polcortolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with a pronounced anti-inflammatory, desensitizing and anti-edema effect; it blocks the release of inflammatory mediators, including prostaglandins, which potentiate the inflammatory process. The drug reduces the number of mast cells that produce hyaluronic acid, reduces the porosity of blood capillaries, stimulates the biosynthesis of lipocartins (special proteins) with anti-edematous activity. Chloramphenicol and metronidazole exhibit synergistic action against a wide range of infectious agents, including some types of fungi and protozoa. Calendula extract possesses bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties, accelerates the healing process of damage to the skin and hair. Lidocaine hydrochloride has a local anesthetic effect due to the blockade of sodium channels of membranes, which prevents the generation of impulses in the endings of sensory nerves and their conduction along nerve fibers. Stop-itching spray, according to the degree of impact on the body of warm-blooded animals, belongs to low-hazard substances.
