Trimethoprim

Trimethoprim antibacterial agent. Trimethoprim is active against gram-negative (E. coli, Proteus, Klebsiella) and some gram-positive microorganisms, acts bacteriostatically. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase during the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid.
