Sulfac 25 (Cefquinoma sulfate 25mg)
suspension for injection
1 ml of the drug contains:
Cefquinoma sulfate – 29.64 mg (equivalent to 25 mg cefquin).
Description
White suspension with a yellow or brown tinge.
Pharmacological properties
Antibiotic of the fourth generation cephalosporin group. Acts bactericidal against gram-positive bacteria – Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. (serogroups A, B and C) and gram-negative bacteria – Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Erysipelotrix rhusiopathiae, Citrobacter spp., Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella haemolytica (Mannheimia haemolymola, Proteus). ., Arcanobacterium pyogenes, Bacillus spp., Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium spp., Prevotella spp., Actinobacillus spp., Serratia marcescens, including those that produce beta-lactamases.
The mechanism of action is based on inhibition of bacterial cell membrane synthesis. Cefquin rapidly penetrates the bacterial cell and is highly resistant to beta-lactamases. Unlike previous generations of cephalosporins, it is not hydrolyzed by chromosomally encoded cephalosporinases of the Amp-C type or plasmid-mediated cephalosporinases of a number of enterobacteria.
After intramuscular administration of cattle at a dose of 1 mg per 1 kg of body weight cefquin enters the bloodstream and reaches a maximum concentration of 2 mg / ml in serum after 1.5-2 hours. After administration of a dose of 2 mg per 1 kg of body weight to pigs, the maximum concentration of 4.8 mg / ml in the serum is observed after 20-60 minutes and is maintained at a therapeutic level for 24 hours.
Cefquinoma sulfate binds poorly to plasma proteins (less than 5%), so it penetrates the cerebrospinal and synovial fluid. 12 hours after intramuscular administration to pigs, its concentration in the cerebrospinal fluid is equal to the content in blood plasma. Cefquin is relatively rapidly excreted in the urine, mostly unchanged (half-life in cattle is 2-2.5 hours, in pigs – 9 hours).
Indication
Treatment of animals with diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to cefquinoma:
- cattle – respiratory diseases caused by Pasteurella multocida, Mannheimia haemolytica, interdigital dermatitis of bacterial etiology, purulent subdermatitis, necrobacteriosis, septicemia and mastitis, including those caused by E. coli;
- calves – Escherichia coli (colibacillosis);
- pigs – respiratory diseases caused by Pasteurella multocida, Haemophillus parasuis, Actinobacillus pleuropneumaniae, Streptococcus suis, MMA syndrome (mastitis-metritis-agalactia), caused by E. coli, Staphylococcus spp., Strepto. etc;
- piglets – meningitis caused by Streptococcus suis, arthritis caused by Streptococcus spp., E. Coli, etc., epidermatitis caused by Staphylococcus hyicus;
- dogs, cats – respiratory and skin diseases, mastitis, meningitis, arthritis, cystitis, urethritis, etc.
Method of application and dosage
Before use, the vial with the drug is thoroughly shaken and injected deep intramuscularly, 1 time per day in the following doses:
- cattle – 2 ml per 50 kg of body weight (1 mg of cefquin per 1 kg of body weight), course – 3-5 days, for mastitis – 2 injections with an interval of 24 hours;
- calves – 4 ml per 50 kg of body weight (2 mg of cefquin per 1 kg of body weight), the course – 3-5 days;
- pigs – 2 ml per 25 kg of body weight (2 mg of cefquin per 1 kg of body weight), course – 3 days, with MMA syndrome – 2 injections with an interval of 24 hours;
- piglets a – 2 ml per 25 kg of body weight (2 mg of cefquin per 1 kg of body weight), course – 5 days;
- dogs and cats – 0.5 ml per 5 kg of body weight (2.5 mg of cefquin per 1 kg of body weight), the course – 2-5 days.
To prevent a local reaction, it is desirable to change the injection site each time.
Reservation
After the last application of the drug, slaughter of cattle for meat is allowed after 5 days, pigs – after 3 days. People can eat milk in 24 hours or after two milkings. Meat and milk obtained before this date are disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian.
Contraindication
Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and other beta-lactam antibiotics and weighing less than 1.25 kg.
Do not use simultaneously with other drugs of bacteriostatic action due to the possible decrease in bactericidal activity of the drug.
Storage conditions
In a dry, dark place, out of reach of children, at a temperature of +2 to +25 ° C. After opening the vial, store the drug in the refrigerator and use for 28 days.
Do not freeze!
Expiration date
