Metronidazole for ornamental and aquarium fish and farm animals
Composition 1 g of the preparation contains the active substance metronidazole – 250 mg.
It has a bactericidal effect on gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. It has a good effect against a size of pathogenic bacteria associated with diseases of ornamental fish. In other words, diseases that include the genera Aeromonas and pseudomonas, as well as a group of mycobacteria (Gill diseases, rhodococci). It is useful when you control a “hole in the head” and “Angel problems” in cichlid and discus.
Treatment of cattle, sheep, pigs, fur game animals, dogs, cats and birds suffering from trichomoniasis, dysentery, diarrhea, colitis, stomatitis, as well as diseases of the respiratory system, genitourinary system, gastrointestinal tract and skin caused by microorganisms sensitive to metronidazole.
Pharmacological properties
Metronidazole is a synthetic antimicrobial and antiprotozoal agent derived from 5-nitroimidazole. Has a bactericidal effect against those microorganisms whose enzyme systems are able to restore nitro groups. Metronidazole disrupts DNA replication and protein synthesis in microbial cells by inhibiting tissue respiration. Easily penetrates into the cell of sensitive microorganisms and, by binding to DNA, disrupts the replication process.
Effective against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Balantidium coli, Lamblia spp., As well as obligate anaerobes Bacteroides spp., Helicobacter pylori, Fusobacterium spp., Veillonela spp., Clobaccopp. ., Peptostreptococcus spp.
Application
Treatment of cats, dogs, mink, diarrhea, ulcerative gingivitis, giardiasis, amebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, anaerobic infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to metronidazole.
Dosage
Orally at a dose of 40 mg of the drug (10 mg of active substance) per 1 kg of body weight of animals twice a day. The course of treatment is 10-20 days.

Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to metronidazole. Do not use in animals with lesions of the central nervous system and in the first third of pregnancy, lactation. Do not use puppies and kittens.
Warning
Possible side effects from the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation and diarrhea. From the CNS and peripheral nervous system: hyperexcitability, sleep disturbances, depression, peripheral neuropathy, convulsions, hearing loss, disorientation, loss of consciousness. From the hematopoietic system: transient leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, urticaria.
