A complex antimicrobial drug with a broad spectrum of action. Oxytetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that acts against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, protozoa, mycoplasmas, rickettsiae, and chlamydia. Colistin - an antibiotic from the group of polymyxins, acts on gram-negative microorganisms. Trimethoprim acts against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria.

      Oxytetracycline

Oxytetracycline is a tetracycline antibiotic used against a large number of sensitive bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative). It has proven itself well in the treatment of rickettsia, chlamydia, mycoplasma and spirochetes.

Is known as a broad spectrum antibiotic due to its activity against a variety of infections. This is the second tetracyclines discovered. Oxytetracycline, like other tetracyclines, is used to treat many common and rare infections. The better absorption profile makes it preferred to tetracycline for moderate acne. Oxytetracycline inhibits cell growth by inhibiting translation. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and prevents the binding of aminoacyl tRNA to the A site of the ribosome. The binding is reversible. Oxytetracycline is lipophilic and can readily pass through the cell membrane or passively diffuse through porin channels in the bacterial membrane.
