1000ml/33.8 fl. oz
California Mastitis Test (CMT) is used to quickly assess the number of somatic cells in milk. KMT can also be used to check somatic cells in milk after treatment of mastitis.
Purple watery liquid .
Sorbic acid salt; sodium alkano sulfate; bromocresol violet sodium salt; water
Clean each nipple separately.
Pour milk samples from each quarter into separate vessels (shovels).
Take the excess milk and leave 2-3 ml (approximately ½ teaspoon) for the correct reaction with the equivalent amount of the KMT test Diapharm.
Add 2-3 ml of KMT-test Diapharm to each sample
Mix the solution in a circular motion with a spatula. At this very time, observe the reaction of changing the viscosity of the mixture. Read the result after 10 seconds. The reaction will disappear after a while. In doubtful cases, repeat the test.
Gently wash the blades after each use.
Negative result: the solution remains liquid, blue / gray and homogeneous. No clots.
Weakly positive result: a slight thickening of the solution and the reaction may disappear (after about 10 seconds).
A positive result, suspected mastitis: thickening, the solution may look like a gel.
A very positive result, mastitis: the mixture hardens, the gel gains shape and becomes very viscous.
KMT-test Diapharm should not be used when the cow produces colostrum, and also not earlier than 3 days after calving. When using, keep away from eyes, avoid contact with skin. Wash hands after use.
