Pharmacological properties
The combination of amoxicillin and neomycin has an additive effect. Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin with a broad spectrum of action with bactericidal action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It affects Campylobacter, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Erysipelothrix, Hemoglobinophilic bacteria, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Streptococcus and penicillinase-negative staphylococci. Bactericidal action is expressed in inhibition of synthesis of a cellular cover of bacteria. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside that has bactericidal activity against mainly gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Salmonella and staphylococci.
