Imitrim (imidacloprid, permethrin) for dogs 10-25 kg (22-55lbs), 5ml (2,5ml*2pcs)
Composition
1 ml of the drug contains (mg):
imidacloprid β 100
permethrin – 500
Description
Yellow or light brown liquid.
Pharmacological properties
Imidacloprid and permethrin act synergistically, have pronounced insecticidal, acaricidal and repellent properties, reduce the risk of transmission of causative agents of transmissible diseases of dogs – borreliosis, rickettsiosis, ehrlichiosis, leishmaniasis.
The drug is effective against fleas Ctenocephalides canis, Ctenocephalides felis imaginal, preimaginal and larval phases of development, hair eaters Trichodectes canis, ticks Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus, mosquitoes Culex pipiens, flies Stomoxys calcitrans, midges of the genera Boophthora, Simulium, mosquitoes Phlebotomus papatasi, Phlebotomus perniciosus.
Imidacloprid is an insecticide that belongs to neonicotinoids (chloronicotinyls), acts on postsynaptic acetylcholine receptors of the central nervous system of insects, is an agonist of nicotine-acetylcholine receptors of postsynaptic membranes and prolongs the opening of sodium channels. Blocking the transmission of nerve impulses leads to convulsions, paralysis and death of ectoparasites.
Permethrin is a contact insectoacaricide from the group of synthetic pyrethroids with a repellent effect. Pyrethroids affect sodium channels, slowing down their activation and inactivation properties. This leads to increased excitability, tremors, spasms of the dorsal muscles and the death of the parasites.
When using two active substances at the same time, imidacloprid functions as an activator of nerve ganglia of arthropods and thus increases the effectiveness of permethrin.
After local application, the drug is quickly distributed over the body surface of dogs. The effectiveness of both active substances is maintained for 4 weeks.
Systemic absorption of the drug when applied to intact skin is very slight and temporary.
Indication
Prevention and treatment of dogs affected by ixodid ticks, fleas, lice, hair eaters, repelling blood-sucking dipterous insects (mosquitoes, gnats, mosquitoes, zoophilic flies). Treatment of allergic flea dermatitis.
Contraindication
Do not use in animals with increased sensitivity to the active substances of the drug, puppies under 7 weeks of age and/or with a body weight of less than 1.5 kg, sick, exhausted and old dogs, productive animals and cats.
Do not use simultaneously with other insectoacaricidal drugs.
Method of application and dosage
For dogs of different body weights, dropper pipettes of the appropriate volume are used:
Body weight, kg | Drug dose, ml | Imidacloprid, mg | Permethrin, mg |
4-10 | 1 | 100 | 500 |
10-25 | 2,5 | 250 | 1250 |
25-40 | 4 | 400 | 2000 |
More than 40 | Use the appropriate combination of pipettes |

Dogs are processed in a standing position.
The drug is used externally, applying it directly to the skin, in places inaccessible for licking (withers and along the spine). The drug is applied to dry, intact skin, starting from the neck. They separate the wool, break off the upper part of the nozzle of the pipette and squeeze the product onto the skin. Dogs of large breeds are applied in 3-4 places along the spine – from the shoulder blades to the root of the tail.
After treatment with the drug, insects die within 12 hours, Ixodes ticks detach and/or die within 48 hours. The repellent effect of the product against fleas, hair eaters, lice, dipterous insects, and ixodid ticks lasts for about 4 weeks. If necessary, the treatment is repeated once a month.
In the treatment of allergic dermatitis caused by insects, the drug is used together with pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy.
The drug remains effective even after the fur gets wet, however, prolonged stay of the animal in water is not recommended. If it was not possible to avoid this, the product can be applied again, but not more often than once a week.
Reservation
When using the drug in the recommended doses, side effects and complications are usually not observed.
In some cases, skin reactions (itching, redness) may occur at the place of application of the drug, which pass without special treatment.
Hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting and difficulty breathing appear very rarely after using the drug. In such cases, the agent is washed off with running water and soap and symptomatic therapy is carried out.
The drug must be applied to places inaccessible for licking. Do not apply to wet or damaged skin.
When working with the drug, you should follow the rules of working with veterinary drugs and the rules of personal hygiene – handle animals with rubber gloves, after which wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. If the product gets on the skin, mucous membranes or in the eyes, they must be washed with a large amount of running water.
Within 24 hours after treatment, animals cannot be petted, slept with, or allowed to be played with by children.
