Liniment syntomycin 45 g (synthomycin)
Description
Liniment of white or yellowish color with a weak specific smell.
1 g of liniment contains the active substance:
syntomycin – 50 mg (synthomycin).
Excipients: sorbitol, propylmethylcellulose, Aerosil, castor oil, purified water.
Pharmacological power
“Liniment syntomycin 5%” has pronounced bactericidal properties, which are due to the action of syntomycin – a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Syntomycin inhibits the growth and development of many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Substances which are a part of drug promote penetration of drug into deep layers of skin and mucous membranes, soften them and act anti-inflammatory.
Application
For the treatment of animals with purulent wounds, purulent-inflammatory diseases and other diseases of the skin (furunculosis, carbuncles) and mucous membranes, endometritis, vaginitis, dermatitis, burns, ulcers, cracked nipples.
Dosage
Liniment is applied in a thin layer on the affected areas of skin or wound and 2 – 4 cm around them 1-2 times a day until recovery. Before applying the ointment, the skin area is cleaned of mechanical inclusions, dirt, exudate residues, wool. From above it is recommended to impose a usual bandage, it is possible with parchment paper which change 1-2 times a day. The liniment is mixed before use.
