Description
Clear solution, light yellow.
1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
imidocarb dipropionate, in terms of dry matter – 120 mg.
Excipients: propionic acid, water for injections.
Pharmacological properties
ATS vet QP51, antiprotozoal veterinary drugs (QP51AЕ01, imidocarb) Imidocarb dipropionate is active against intra-erythrocyte parasites: Babesia bovis, B. ovis, B. bigemina, B. colchica, B. equi, B. divergens, B. canis, B. caballi, B. gibsoni, Francaiella colchica, Theileria annulata, T. sergenti, T. mutans, T. orientalis, T. ovis, T. recondita, T. tarandirangiferis, Trypanosoma brucei, Nuttallia equi, Anaplasma marginale, A. ovis, Ehrlichia canis – pathogens of piroplasmosis, française, babesiosis, tayleriosis, anaplasmosis, nuttaliosis, trypanosomiasis, ehrlichiosis. The mechanism of antiprotozoal action of imidocarb is associated with inhibition of inositol, necessary for the activity of blood parasites, as well as with the violation of the formation and use of polyamines by parasites.
Application
Prevention and treatment of parasitic blood diseases – piroplasmosis, française, babesiosis, tayleriosis, anaplasmosis, nuttaliosis, trypanosomiasis, ehrlichiosis and mixed invasions in cattle, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules, horses, dogs.
Dosage
The drug is administered to animals in accordance with the rules of asepsis and antiseptics in the neck, subcutaneously.
Dogs are injected subcutaneously.
The recommended prophylactic and therapeutic dose of Imidopyran® for dogs is 0.3-0.5 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight (6.6 mg of imidocarb dipropionate per 1 kg of animal body weight).
For prophylactic purposes, the drug is administered to dogs once a season at the risk of attack on animals by Ixodes mites (hunting, hiking in the woods).
Administration of the drug to dogs for therapeutic purposes is repeated after 2 weeks (a total of 2 injections per course of treatment).
Dogs should be under the supervision of a veterinarian for at least 15 minutes after administration of the drug. Simultaneously with Imidopiran®, dogs are recommended to use antihistamines.
Cattle, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules and horses should be injected once subcutaneously, preferably in the neck.
The recommended therapeutic dose of Imidopyran® is 1 ml per 100 kg of body weight of the animal; prophylactic – 2.5 ml of Imidopyran® per 100 kg of animal body weight.
Prophylactically Imidopyran® is used when one or more animals with clinical signs of disease appear in a herd (group) of animals, in case of invasion (or threat of invasion) on animals of Ixodes mites – carriers of blood parasitic diseases, as well as within 1 week after moving animals to epizootically unfavorable disease regions:
cattle – 1 time in 6 weeks;
horses, donkeys and mules – once every 4 weeks.
Due to the possibility of a painful reaction, the drug is not recommended to be administered in one place to large animals in a volume of more than 10 ml, small animals – in a volume of more than 2.5 ml.
Contraindication
Do not use the drug in animals with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug!
Do not use the drug for 4 weeks after vaccination with live vaccine against babesiosis or anaplasmosis!
Do not use the drug simultaneously with anticholinesterase drugs.
Reservation
There may be a painful reaction after injection at the injection site.
There is information about the possibility of side effects in dogs in the form of cholinergic symptoms: increased salivation, mucus from the nose, periodic vomiting. Shortness of breath, increased nervous excitement, diarrhea, moderate inflammation of the injection site – are less common. Side effects are eliminated by subcutaneous injection of 1% solution of atropine sulfate.
In case of mass death of blood parasites and destruction of erythrocytes after application of the drug in animals, intoxication may occur. In such cases, conduct intensive therapy, which includes intravenous solutions of electrolytes and hepatoprotectors.
Animals with clinical signs of babesiosis should be given antihistamines before administration of Imidopyran®.
Imidopyran® should not be administered intravenously and intramuscularly to cattle, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules and horses, as well as intravenously to dogs, with intramuscular administration to dogs there is marked pain. Do not use the drug without a prescription from a veterinarian. The introduction of a repeated dose not specified in the leaflet-tab, or deviations from the course are prohibited.
Use with caution in animals with impaired renal, pulmonary and hepatic function.
Before mass treatment of animals, each batch of the drug should be tested on a small group of animals (5-10 heads). In the absence of complications, all livestock are treated within 3 days.
Animals with clinical signs of babesiosis should be given antihistamines before administration of Imidopyran®.
In case of intoxication of the animal’s body due to the mass death of blood parasites, intensive therapy is required, including intravenous solutions of electrolytes and hepatoprotectors.
Slaughter of cattle, horses and sheep for meat is allowed 28 days after the last application of Imidopiran®. In case of forced slaughter of animals before the established term, the meat can be used for feeding fur animals. Milk from dairy cows and mares can be used for food purposes 4 days after the last administration of Imidopiran®. The previously obtained milk after boiling can be used for feeding animals. The milk of Imidopyran® sheep is prohibited for food use throughout the lactation period.
When carrying out treatment-and-prophylactic measures with the use of the drug Imidopyran® it is necessary to follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety, which are provided when working with veterinary drugs.
In case of accidental contact with the skin or mucous membranes, it should be washed off with soap and running water, if ingested – immediately consult a doctor with a leaflet-tab or label of the drug.
Release form
50 ml in glass bottles sealed with rubber stoppers and aluminum caps. The bottles are placed in a pack.
2 ml in colored light-protective ampoules of the I hydrolytic class. 10 ampoules are placed in a contour honeycomb package. 1 contour honeycomb package is placed in a pack.
