A broad-spectrum antibacterial drug.
Sarafloxacin is a third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic whose mechanism of action is due to inhibition of DNA gyrase activity (type II topoisomerase in gram-negative bacteria and type IV topoisomerase in individual gram-positive bacteria), which ensure DNA replication in nuclei of cells and microbial nuclei. microorganisms do not multiply.
It acts against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, in particular resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics, tetracyclines, macrolides and aminoglycosides: E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Staphylococcus aurecospus, Strepus. ., Klebsiella spp., Bordetella spp., Clostridium spp., Yersinia spp., Pseudomonas spp., Enterobacter spp., Ornithobacterium spp. etc.
Sarafloxacin is one of the main treatment programs for poultry in colibacillosis and salmonellosis. It is twice as active against gram-positive microorganisms and four times more active against gram-negative microorganisms than norfloxacin and more active against anaerobes than ciprofloxacin.
It is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body. Bioavailability in broilers when administered orally is 59.6 ± 13.8%. The maximum concentration in blood is reached in 1,5-3 hours after application. The half-life in broilers is 3.89 ± 1.19 hours. In poultry liver, sarafloxacin is metabolized in small amounts to sulfamine and glucuronide compounds. The biological half-life is 30.13 hours. Excreted mainly in the feces and kidneys, mostly unchanged.
Method of application and dosage
Before use, the powder is dissolved in drinking water and given orally at a dose of 0.5 g of the drug per 10 kg of body weight, the course is 3 days. With salmonellosis, the course can be extended to 4-5 days.
