Storage
1 vial of the drug contains the active substance:
benzylpenicillin sodium salt – 1,000,000 IU.
Pharmacological properties
ATC vet classification code QJ01- antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use.Β QJΒ 01Β CEΒ 01 – Benzylpenicillin.
Benzylpenicillin sodium is a bactericidal antibiotic of the penicillin series, which has a detrimental effect on gram-positive and some gram-negative microorganisms:Β Streptococcus sppΒ .Β Staphylococcus spp., Bacillus spp., Neisseria spp., Pasteurella spp.Β and other.
The mechanism of action of the drug is to inhibit the activity of enzymes for the synthesis of peptidoglycan, which is the basis of the cell wall of microorganisms, which leads to delayed reproduction and growth of bacteria.
Penicillin when administered intramuscularly is rapidly absorbed into the blood and distributed in body fluids and tissues;Β penetrates into the cerebrospinal fluid in small quantities.Β The maximum concentration of benzylpenicillin in the blood is observed after 30-60 minutes.Β introduction.Β In 3-4 hours only traces of an antibiotic are found in blood.Β To maintain a concentration high enough for a therapeutic effect, injections should be given every 3-4 hours.Β When administered intravenously, the concentration of penicillin in the blood decreases rapidly.Β Benzylpenicillin sodium is practically not metabolized in the liver and is excreted unchanged through the kidneys.
Application
Treatment of cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs, fur animals, rabbits, ducks, patients with septicemia, phlegmon, emphysematous carbuncle, streptococcal infection of cattle;Β myth, pneumonia;Β streptococcus, staphylococcus, infectious stomatitis and rhinitis, plague of fur-bearing animals and dogs;Β swine erysipelas and avian spirochetosis, bronchopneumonia, wound infection, as well as urinary tract diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to benzylpenicillin.
Dosage
Solutions of the drug are prepared in sterile distilled water, 0.5% solution of novocaine, which prolongs the action of benzylpenicillin, or isotonic sodium chloride solution.Β To maintain the required constant high concentration in the blood, penicillin is administered 4-6 times a day in the following doses:
Animal and bird species | Single intramuscular dose, IU / kg body weight | |
Adults | Young growth | |
cattle | 3000-5000 | 5000 |
sheep, goats | 4000-10000 | 10000 |
pigs | 6000-8000 | 8000 |
horses | 2000-3000 | 3000 |
rabbits | 6000-10000 | 10000 |
fur animals and dogs | 10000-20000 | 30,000 |
ducks, turkeys | 30,000 | 50,000 |
The course of treatment is at least 4-7 days, in severe cases the course of treatment can be extended to 7-10 days.Β Solutions of the drug are used intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously (in severe septic conditions).Β When administered intravenously, the dose of antibiotic is 2 times less than recommended for intramuscular administration.

Do not use for purring and hamsters.
Do not use in animals with impaired liver or kidney function.
