Description
Powder white or white with a slightly yellowish tinge.
Storage
1 vial of the drug contains the active substances:
sterile benzathine benzylpenicillin (Bicilin-1) – 1,200,000 units;
benzylpenicillin novocaine salt sterile – 300,000 units.
Pharmacological properties
Bicillin®-5 is a bactericidal antibiotic that belongs to the group of penicillins sensitive to ß-lactamases.
The drug prevents the formation of peptide bonds by inhibiting transpeptidase, disrupts the late stages of synthesis of peptidoglycan cell membrane, which leads to lysis of dividing cells.
The drug is active against gram-positive microorganisms: Staphylococcus spp., (Except producing penicillinase), Streptococcus spp. (including Streptococcus pneumoniae), Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis; gram-negative: Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Actinomyces israelii, and Treponema spp., anaerobic spore-forming rods. Most gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa are resistant to the drug.
Application
Treatment of cattle, sheep, goats, horses, foxes, foxes, minks, dogs, pigs, patients with necrobacteriosis, pasteurellosis, pneumonia, mastitis, metritis, wound infection, otitis, urinary tract infections, septicemia, phlegmon; actinomycosis, emphysematous carbuncle; streptococcal septicemia of cattle, sheep and goats; streptococcosis, stachybotriotoxicosis, streptococcosis, staphylococcosis, infectious stomatitis, rhinitis, plague of fur-bearing animals and dogs, swine erysipelas caused by microorganisms sensitive to the components of the drug.
Dosage
The suspension is prepared sterilely, immediately before use. Bicillin®-5 after adding 9 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or sterile water for injections, or 0.25-0.5% solution of novocaine must be mixed to obtain a uniform mixture.

Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to drugs of the penicillin or novocaine group.
Do not use in guinea pigs, hamsters.
Warning
