Principle of action :
Lotilaner is an insecticide and acaricide from the isoxazoline family; a pure enantiomer that actively affects adult ticks (Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes hexagonus, I. ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis and C. canis). The main active substance of Credelio Plus is also the most powerful inhibitor of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid)-dependent chloride channels and to a lesser extent glutamate-dependent chloride channels of insects and ticks, which leads to the rapid death of fleas and ticks. No influence on the activity of the dog’s resistance to organochlorine compounds (cyclodienes, for example, dieldrin), phenylpyrazoles (for example, fipronil), neonicotinoids (for example, imidacloprid), formamidines (for example, amitraz) and pyrethroids (for example, pyrethroids) was found to affect the activity of lothilaner.
The effectiveness of lotilaner against ticks is manifested after 48 hours from the moment of their attachment and lasts for 1 month after applying the product.
I. ricinus ticks parasitizing the animal die within 8 hours after using the drug.
The effectiveness of the active ingredient lothilaner against fleas begins 4 hours after the antiparasitic treatment and lasts for one month after the use of Credelio Plus.
Fleas on a dog die within 6 hours.
The drug with the active substance lotilaner kills existing and newly settled fleas in dogs before the females lay eggs.
Credelio Plus by Elanco interrupts the flea life cycle and protects the environment from flea infestation in areas that your pet has access to.
Milbemycin oxime is a systemically active macrocyclic lactone isolated as a result of fermentation of Streptomyces hygroscopeus var. auerolamacimosus. This substance contains two main factors: A3 and A4 (the ratio of A3: A4 is 20:80). Milbemycin oxime is an antiparasitic endectocide. It is active against ticks, larvae, adult nematodes, as well as heartworm larvae (L3/L4) Dirofilaria immitis. The active action of milbemycin oxime is related to its effect on neurotransmission in invertebrates. Like avermectins and other milbemycins, it increases the permeability of nematode and insect membranes to chloride ions through glutamate-gated chloride ion channels. This leads to hyperpolarization of the neuromuscular membrane, lethargic paralysis and death of the parasite.
Contraindications :
Do not use in case of established hypersensitivity to active substances.
The safety of Credelio Plus for pregnant and lactating dogs has not been studied. It should only be used after a benefit/risk assessment by a veterinarian.
