Pharmacological properties:

ATCvet QP52A, anti-trematode, anti-nematode, and anti-cestode veterinary drugs (QP52AA01, praziquantel; QP52AC12, fenbendazole). The spectrum of anthelmintic action of the drug Vormikil paste is based on the pharmacological action of the components of the drug – fenbendazole and praziquantel.

The active substance – fenbendazole (a group of benzimidazoles) inhibits the polymerization of tubulin proteins into microtubulins, reduces the activity of energy enzymes, slows down the metabolism of helminths, as a result of which the absorption of nutrients (adenosine triphosphoric acid and glucose) is impaired, mitochondrial reactions decrease, complete depletion and paralysis of parasites occurs.

Fenbendazole is practically non-toxic to animals; embryotoxic and teratogenic properties have not been established. Fenbendazole has ovocidal effects. Effective against gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes, in an increased dose – against animal trematodes and cestodes.

Praziquantel is active against cestodes (tape helminths), is rapidly absorbed by the entire surface of the parasite and is evenly distributed throughout their body. Praziquantel increases the membrane permeability to calcium ions, causes an increase in muscle activity, which is followed by muscle contraction and spastic paralysis, causes destruction of the external cuticle in adult forms of cestodes. Often, dead cestodes are completely digested in the digestive tract and are not detected in feces. In mammals, praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the digestive tract. Its high concentration in blood plasma is observed 1-2 hours after administration, it is rapidly metabolized and excreted up to 80% in the form of metabolites by the kidneys within 4 days, with 90% excreted in the first 24 hours.

Application:

Deworming of adult dogs, puppies, cats and kittens as well as ornamental rabbits and guinea pigs with cestodoses (Dipylidium caninum, Echinococcus spp., Taenia spp., Mesocestoides spp.) And nematodoses (Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxocaria lexariacin Ancylostoma caninum, Hydatigera taeniaeformis).

Dosage:

Dose – 1 g Vormikil paste per 1 kg of body weight once. One syringe contains a dose of 14 kg or 6 kg. Before the introduction: it is necessary to determine the body weight of the animal, according to the weight, adjust the syringe dispenser. Remove the lid from the cannula, insert the syringe into the animal’s mouth and squeeze out the amount of paste shown on the graduation. At the end of the procedure, close the cannula with a lid. For the second and third application, it is necessary to add the body weight of the animal, adjust the dosage and give the right amount of paste to the animal. To facilitate the use of Vormikil paste, you can mix with a small amount of feed. Dietary servings or fasting are optional. For the effective treatment of invasions caused by nematodes, it is necessary to repeat the use of Vormikil paste 7-10 days after the first use of the drug. Deworming of animals is recommended to be carried out quarterly. Kittens and puppies can be treated from 30 days of age.
