Fosprenil (antiviral immunostimulatory drug) Sterile Solution for injection, 10 ml
Immunity-booster, immunomodulators, Immune stimulants
Fosprenil is an antiviral immunostimulatory drug
Fosprenil – a natural drug obtained by a unique technology by phosphorylation of polyprenols isolated from environmentally friendly pine needles. Fosprenil has a pronounced therapeutic effect in viral diseases. The drug mobilizes the body’s defenses and has antiviral activity. The drug is patented as a means for the treatment of viral enteritis, hepatitis, panleukopenia, carnivorous plague and other serious viral diseases. Advantages: no toxicity, allergenicity and high therapeutic efficacy in various viral infections. It is used for the treatment and prevention of viral infections of domestic animals, as well as for the prevention of infectious diseases of farm animals.
contains in its composition as an active substance disodium salt of phosphate polyprenols – 0.4% and as excipients: glycerin – 3.0%, ethanol – 2.9%, twin-80 – 0.25% and water for others. injections – up to 100%.
Description
In appearance, Fosprenil is a clear or slightly opalescent solution, colorless or yellowish.4.
Pharmacological properties
Fosprenil stimulates the basic parameters of the system of natural resistance (bactericidal activity of blood serum and phagocytosis), enhances the humoral immune response to vaccines, thereby increasing the body’s resistance to infections, reduces morbidity. Fosprenil activates metabolic processes in cells and, accordingly, increases growth while reducing feed costs. Fosprenil has antiviral activity against paramyxoviruses, orthomyxoviruses, togaviruses, herpesviruses, coronaviruses and some other viruses.
According to the degree of impact on the body, Fosprenil is a low-risk substance (hazard class 4), in the recommended doses does not have a local irritant, allergenic, embryotoxic, teratogenic and carcinogenic effects.
The order of application
Fosprenil is prescribed to farm, domestic animals, fur animals and poultry to stimulate nonspecific resistance, to prevent and treat viral infections, to strengthen the immune response to vaccine administration, to reduce morbidity and to increase growth in animals and poultry. The drug is administered intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intravenously or orally. If necessary, the drug can be used to wash the mucous membrane of the eye and nasal cavity of a sick animal.
Fosprenil treatment should be started as soon as possible after the onset of clinical signs of the disease. The most effective therapy in the prodromal period. In viral infections it is necessary to combine Fosprenil with means of symptomatic and pathogenetic therapy, especially in severe and complicated forms of infections. In severe disease, the therapeutic dose of fosprenil is recommended to be doubled. Treatment is stopped 2 – 3 days after the disappearance of the main symptoms of the disease. If necessary, it is possible to prescribe repeated courses of treatment.
In the treatment of viral infections of small pets Fosprenil prescribed for 5 – 7 days in the doses listed in the table:
Animal species | The puppies | Dogs | The kittens | Cats |
Single dose, ml / kg | 0.3 | 0.2 | 0.3 | 0.2 |
Daily dose, ml / kg | 0.9 – 1.2 | 0.6 – 0.8 | 0.9 – 1.2 | 0.6 – 0.8 |

5 kg | 11.023 lb | 11 lb 0.370 oz |
10 kg | 22.046 lb | 22 lb 0.740 oz |
With a large daily dose of Fosprenil should be administered either at two or three points, or three or four injections during the day, or intravenously half the dose.
In case of carnivorous plague in dogs, to avoid recurrence, the drug should be administered for at least 14 days, even if the clinical signs of the disease disappear. The duration of the course, if necessary, can be increased to 1 month.
For the purpose of nonspecific prevention of diseases and reduction of a case Fosprenil enter in a dose of 0,05 ml on 1 kg of weight of an animal according to the scheme specified in the table:
Kind of animal | Infections | Method of administration | Number of introductions | |||||

* – to prepare a working solution of 20 ml of fosprenil diluted in 1 liter of water with 10% glycerol and sprayed using aerosol generators such as SAG or APA at the rate of 0.4 ml of working solution per 1 m3 of poultry room with exposure for 15 minutes.
In terms of well-being to reduce the incidence and death from opportunistic infections, increase growth, reduce feed costs of young animals (pigs, horses, cattle) and poultry (chickens) in the first month of life Fosprenil is administered in a prophylactic dose of 0.05 ml per 1 kg of internal viscous, orally or with watering on the 2nd, 5th, 10th, 14th and 20th days of life. Fosprenil is fed to fur-bearing animals once every 7 days for 1 month after weaning, then once every 14 days before slaughter.
In order to increase the immune response to vaccines and prevent post-vaccination complications, Fosprenil at a dose of 0.05 ml per 1 kg is administered simultaneously with the vaccine in different syringes intramuscularly, orally or by feeding. At revaccination the drug is not used.
The combination with steroids reduces the therapeutic effect of fosprenil. It is not recommended to dilute Fosprenil with saline solutions.
No side effects or complications with the use of the drug Fosprenil were found.
Products from animals and birds, which used Fosprenil, are used for food purposes without restrictions.
