Properties of active substances
L-carnitine is a Quaternary amine consisting of lysine and methionine. It releases energy by converting long-chain fatty acids. 95% of all carnitine in the body is in the myocardium, so L-carnitine provides the heart with energy for its continuous operation. The use of L-carnitine helps protect the myocardium from the harmful accumulation of fatty acids in the cells of the heart muscle.
Taurine is one of the substances that is vital for a healthy heart metabolism. Makes up 40% of free amino acids in the myocardium. Has antiarrhythmic properties, regulates the number of heartbeats (depending on the level of calcium ions), ensuring the preservation of myocardial cells. Neutralizes free radicals. Taurine deficiency can lead to dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs.
Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) is vital for energy production in the body. It is a natural antioxidant needed to neutralize free radicals.
Selenium is an important part of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which is involved in antioxidant processes. Its functions depend on vitamin E. The main function of selenium is to prevent the effects of oxidative stress, which is one of the key elements of dilated cardiomyopathy.
Vitamin E (in combination with selenium) is a powerful antioxidant that prevents excessive contraction of cardiac endothelial cells. Weakens the process of adhesion of blood cells and prevents the accumulation of platelets in the coronary arteries, facilitating blood flow through the vessels that supply the heart.
Indications for use
Treatment of congenital heart failure in dogs caused by mitral valve insufficiency or cardiomyopathy with dilatation of the heart as an adjunct to diuretics. To increase endurance to exercise and survival in dogs with congenital heart disease.
