Levamisole hydrochloride solution for injection
1 ml of the drug contains:
levamisole hydrochloride – 80 mg
Description
The liquid is colorless, transparent, without mechanical inclusions, with a faint specific odor.
Pharmacological properties
Levamisole hydrochloride is a synthetic compound from the group of imidazothiales. Inhibits the enzyme of basic fumarate reductase metabolism and ATP formation, paralyzes nerve nodes, causes paralysis and death of nematodes in the first 12-24 hours after administration.
Quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration in blood plasma is observed in 1,5-2 hours. Biologically transformed in the liver with the formation of inactive metabolites. The half-life is 3-4 hours, metabolites – about 16 hours. Excreted mainly by the kidneys (more than 95%) in the form of inactive metabolites and gastrointestinal tract (approximately 5%) and less than 0.2% unchanged.
The drug has a complex effect on the immune system, especially in immunosuppressive conditions: increases the production of antibodies to various antigens, activates T-lymphocytes and stimulates their proliferation, increases the function of monocytes, macrophages and neutrophils (chemotaxis, phagocytosis, adhesion).
