Pharmacological properties
ATC-vet classification code: QD02A Dermatological veterinary preparations. Drugs with protective and emollient action.
Due to the combination of active substances the drug has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effects.
The pharmacological action of the ointment is primarily due to the presence of essential vegetable oils. Their common property is antiseptic activity, which acts on almost all groups of microorganisms (gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, vibrios, viruses, protozoa, microscopic fungi). With prolonged use, resistance does not develop. This is due to the destructive effect of essential oils on the cytoplasmic membrane, damage to the defense mechanisms and adaptation of the microbial cell. The antibacterial activity of medicinal plant oils is combined with their complete safety for the macroorganism.
Chlorophyll has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial activity against antibiotic-resistant staphylococci, relieves edema, stimulates hematopoiesis, tissue regeneration, phagocytic activity of leukocytes and connective tissue cells.
Camphor when applied topically moderately irritates nerve endings, with prolonged action reduces the sensitivity of skin receptors, reduces the migration of leukocytes from blood vessels to the site of inflammation. Acts bacteriostatically, especially on coccal forms of microorganisms.
Menthol enhances the local action of vegetable essential oils, has a calming, mild local analgesic and antiseptic effect. When applied topically, it narrows the vessels of the skin.
The ointment is quickly absorbed at the application site, enhances local blood circulation, activates nutrition, promotes healing of microtraumas. Protects the skin of the udder from the harmful effects of the environment (cold, moisture, wind), as well as from insect bites. Prevents drying of the skin with frequent washing, has a light disinfecting effect, gives elasticity, resilience.

The amount of drug depends on the area of application.
The udder and teats are lubricated with a small amount of ointment after each milking. If necessary, the milkmaid lubricates his hands after milking.
In the complex therapy of mastitis at the first signs of the disease, the udder and teats are intensively lubricated and massaged until complete absorption of the ointment. The procedure should be repeated every 4 hours until the disappearance of clinical signs of the disease.
In other cases, the ointment is applied to the affected areas 2-3 times a day and rubbed until it is completely absorbed.
