Description

Light yellow liquid, transparent.

Composition

1 ml of the drug contains meloxicam – 5 mg.

Pharmacological properties

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the oxicam class with analgesic and antipyretic properties. The mechanism of action is based on a decrease in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation, due to inhibition of the enzymatic activity of COX-2. Partially affects COX-1, reduces the risk of side effects.

It has pronounced chondroprotective properties and, with prolonged use, does not inhibit bone metabolism, therefore it can be used to treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system. In addition, it does not affect the course of the gestational process in cows.

After subcutaneous, intramuscular or intravenous administration, it is completely absorbed, the relative bioavailability is 89-99%. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 1-5 hours. Has a high degree of binding to plasma proteins, mainly albumin (99%). When it enters the synovial fluid, the concentration of the drug is halved compared to the blood plasma.

Almost completely metabolized by enzymes in the liver and excreted in urine and feces, partly in milk. The half-life is about 20 hours, the total plasma clearance is on average 8 ml / min.

Indications

Treatment of animals for diseases:

cattle – inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system (traumatic edema, arthritis, arthrosis, bursitis, tendinitis, etc.), acute respiratory infections, purulent-catarrhal mastitis (in combination with antibiotic therapy), diarrhea (in combination with rehydration and etiotropic therapy), to relieve pain after calf decornation;

pigs – diseases of the musculoskeletal system (to reduce symptoms of lameness and inflammation), sepsis after farrowing, metritis-mastitis-agalactia syndrome (in combination with antibiotic therapy);

horses – acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system (traumatic edema, arthritis, arthrosis, bursitis, tendinitis, tendovaginitis, laminitis, pododermatitis, hoof lesions of a purulent-inflammatory nature (in combination with antibacterial agents), colic;

dogs, cats – acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, accompanied by severe pain and inflammation (fractures, injuries, sprains of ligaments and tendons, osteoarthritis, chronic degenerative joint diseases, etc.), relief of postoperative pain.

Contraindications

Do not administer to animals with hypersensitivity to the active ingredients of the drug, stomach and duodenal ulcers, hemorrhagic syndrome, severe renal or hepatic insufficiency. Do not use in calves under 1 week of age, foals under 6 weeks of age, dogs and cats under 6 weeks of age, pregnant and lactating mares, pregnant and lactating cats and bitches.

Do not prescribe concurrently with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids and anticoagulants.

Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe.

When injected subcutaneously, a swelling may occur at the injection site, which disappears over time. With increased sensitivity of the animal to the drug, an allergic reaction (rash and urticaria), anaphylactic shock may occur.

In case of adverse reactions, you should stop treatment and contact your veterinarian. Do not use in animals with severe dehydration, hypovolemia and hypotension requiring parenteral rehydration, as there is a potential risk of nephrotoxicity.

After the last use of the drug, slaughter of cattle for meat is allowed after 15 days, pigs and horses – after 5 days, milk for human consumption – after 5 days. Meat and milk obtained earlier than the specified period are disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian.

Storage conditions

Store in a dry, dark place at temperatures from +8 to + 25 ° С.

After opening the bottle, store the drug in the refrigerator and use it within 28 days.
