The liquid is colorless or light yellow, transparent.
Pharmacological properties
The drug replenishes calcium deficiency in the body, reduces the permeability of blood vessels and tissues, accelerates blood clotting, has hemostatic, anti-exudative, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory properties, reduces the action of toxins. Calcium ions are involved in the transmission of nerve impulses, contraction of smooth and striated muscles, blood clotting, bone formation, the functioning of the myocardium and other systems and organs. Less irritating to the tissue at the injection site than calcium chloride.
At parenteral administration it is evenly distributed in bodies and fabrics, in plasma is in the ionized kind, gets through a placental barrier, is allocated with milk. It is excreted mainly by the kidneys.
Indication
Treatment and prevention of animals with diseases caused by insufficiency or decreased calcium metabolism in the body, especially with a decrease in its content in bones, rickets, in the initial stages of inflammatory processes of various origins, bleeding, hemorrhagic diathesis, urticaria, rheumatic inflammation, pre- and postpartum , postpartum paresis, manure retention, decalcification during pregnancy and lactation, tetany of pregnant women, eclampsia in bitches and sows, allergies and toxicosis.
APPLICATION
Method of application and dosage
Before use, the drug is warmed to the body temperature of the animal and administered intravenously, slowly, at a dose of 0.5 ml per 1 kg of body weight.
The maximum single dose per 1 animal is:
- cattle – 150-300 ml;
- horses – 150-250 ml;
- pigs, sheep, goats – 20-100 ml;
- dogs – 5-25 ml.
It is possible to re-use the drug after 24 hours in the same dose.
Reservation
The syringe into which the drug is administered should not contain residual ethyl alcohol, as this causes calcium gluconate to precipitate.
The drug reduces the therapeutic effect of tetracyclines.
Contraindication
Do not use in animals with hypercalcaemia.
