A drug for the prevention and treatment of primary infections in animals of the respiratory, digestive, and genitourinary systems, secondary infections after viral infectious diseases (antibiotic + coccidiostat).
Composition:
Trisulfone suspension in 100 ml contains as active ingredients 40 g of sulfamonomethoxine in the form of sodium salt and 8 g of trimethoprim, and as excipients – microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, Tween 80, sorbitol 70% solution, sodium sugar, benzyl alcohol, simethicone, and demineralized water.
Release form:
The drug is produced packaged in glass bottles of 100 ml or plastic bottles of 1 liter.
Pharmacological properties:
Trisulfone suspension belongs to the group of complex antibacterial drugs. Trisulfone suspension has a broad antibacterial spectrum of activity against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, as well as some protozoa. Sulfamonomethoxine, similar in structure to para-aminobenzoic acid, disrupts the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid in bacterial cells, preventing the inclusion of para-aminobenzoic acid in its molecule. Trimethoprim enhances the action of sulfamonomethoxine, disrupting the reduction of dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid, the active form of folic acid responsible for protein metabolism and microbial cell division. With a combined action, the synthesis of folic acid is disrupted in two successive stages,
Sulfamonometoxin and trimethoprim are well and quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and penetrate into all organs and tissues of the body, where they create antibacterial concentrations for 24 hours. Excreted from the body mainly with urine and bile.
Trisulfone suspension, according to the degree of impact on the body, belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not cause side effects and complications in animals and birds.
Application order:
Apply to calves, lambs – with colibacillosis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, bronchopneumonia, abscesses caused by staphylococci, polyarthritis caused by streptococci, pigs – with colibacillosis, atrophic rhinitis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, hemophilic pleuropneumonia, poultry -, with pasteurellosis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, staphylococcus, coccidiosis, rabbits – with pasteurellosis, staphylococcus, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, coccidiosis.
It is forbidden to use Trisulfone®, suspension in adult ruminant animals with developed cicatricial digestion, laying hens, as well as animals with impaired kidney and liver function.
Method of application and dosage:
Trisulfone suspension is administered orally to animals individually or in groups in the following doses:
– calves, goats, lambs, pigs are administered orally with water for drinking in a daily dose of 1-2 ml of the drug per 32 kg of animal body weight. The duration of treatment is 5 days.
– for poultry and rabbits, the drug is given with drinking water in the following daily doses: for coccidiosis – 100 ml of Trisulfone suspension per 100 liters of water for 3-5 days, for other diseases – 1 ml of the drug per 32 kg of animal body weight for 5 days.
During the treatment period, animals should receive only water containing Trisulfone suspension. When this is not possible, the daily dose for calves, kids, lambs, pigs should be divided into two equal parts and given to animals in two doses, with an interval of 12 hours. The solution with the drug during the treatment period is prepared daily. Shake the suspension before use.
Side effects:
With the exception of cases of individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, not identified.
Special instructions:
It is forbidden to use the drug after the expiration date.
Keep the drug should be out of the reach of children.
The unused drug is disposed of in accordance with the requirements of the law.
The drug should not be used together with para-aminobenzoic acid, procaine, and other local anesthetics. Also, the drug should not be used with B vitamins (nicotinamide, folic acid, choline) because of their antagonistic effect on sulfonamides.
Slaughter of animals and poultry for meat is allowed no earlier than 10 days after the last injection of Trisulfone suspension. The meat of animals and birds, forced to be killed before the deadline, can be used to feed fur-bearing animals.
