Xylazine 20 mg/ml (XylaMed analog) Solution for injection, 30 ml
Structure:
The drug as an active ingredient in 1 ml contains xylazine hydrochloride – 20 mg.
Indications:
Xylazine 2% is prescribed to farm animals, dogs and cats for the purpose of sedation, anesthesia and muscle relaxation during clinical examination, X-ray examinations, to immobilize restless and aggressive animals, including during transportation; as a means of premedication for surgical interventions, painful manipulations, as well as for local and general anesthesia.
Dosage and method of administration:
Xylazine 2% is administered parenterally to animals. Depending on the method of administration of the dose of the drug and the type of animal, sedation and muscle relaxation of varying degrees are observed:
- 0.25 ml per 100 kg of animal weight – mild sedative effect. Used to calm the animal.
- 0.5 ml per 100 kg of animal weight – moderate sedation. Used for clinical trials, minor surgical interventions, mainly in combination with local anesthesia.
- 1 ml / kg of animal weight – pronounced sedation. It is used for long-term surgical interventions with the possible addition of local or general anesthesia.
- 1.5 ml per 100 kg – deep sedation. It is used only for adult animals after a preliminary starvation diet for very painful and prolonged operations and during obstetrics.
- Cattle: 0.25-1.5 ml per 100 kg of animal weight (0.05-0.3 mg of xylazine hydrochloride per 1 kg of animal weight).
- For horses: by intravenous jet slowly, at a dose of 2.5-5.0 ml per 100 kg of animal weight (0.5-1.0 mg of xylazine hydrochloride per 1 kg of animal weight).
- Dogs, when carrying out manipulations that are not accompanied by painful manifestations, Xylazine 2% is injected intramuscularly,
- For cats – intramuscularly or subcutaneously at a dose of 0.05-0.10 ml / kg (1-3 mg of xylazine hydrochloride per 1 kg of animal weight).
Specific antidotes for xylazine hydrochloride are alpha-adrenergic receptor blockers – Yohimbine, Tolazoline or Atipamezole, which are administered to animals according to instructions.
