Aniprazole DEWORMER tablets for dogs and cats
Description
Round corrugated tablet of pale yellow color. The tablet can be divided into equal halves and quarters.
Storage
1 tablet contains the active substance:
- praziquantel – 50.0 mg;
- fenbendazole – 500.0 mg.
Excipients: sodium dodecyl sulfate, povidone K25, magnesium stearate, closcarmellose sodium.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet classification code QP52A – anthelmintics. QP52AA51- praziquantel, combinations.
The optimal ratio of the two active substances provides the widest range of action of the anthelmintic drug. The drug is highly effective against nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract and lungs. Effective against imaginal and larval stages of parasites.
Praziquantel is a synthetic quinoline derivative. Its mechanism of action is due to impaired permeability of helminth cell membranes to calcium ions, which leads to rapid paralysis of parasites and the destruction of their cell membranes, as well as inhibition of glucose metabolism. This causes the death of parasites and their removal from the gastrointestinal tract. Praziquantel is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and reaches its maximum plasma concentration in 1-2 hours. Praziquantel is rapidly distributed to all organs. The half-life of praziquantel and its metabolites varies in dogs and cats from 2 to 3 hours. Its bioavailability is about 84%. Distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal and binds to blood proteins (70-80%). Metabolized in the liver with the formation of inactive metabolites. Excreted in the urine and in small quantities in the feces. The half-life lasts 48 hours.
Fenbendazole – inhibits the polymerization of tubulin proteins into microtubules, reduces the activity of energy enzymes, which causes the death of parasites from depletion. Shows high anthelmintic activity and a wide range of action against mature and immature stages of parasites. After oral administration, fenbendazole is partially absorbed, metabolized in the liver to sulfoxide (oxfendazole) and then to sulfone (oxfendazole sulfone). Fenbendazole and its metabolites spread to organs and tissues, reaching the highest concentration in the liver of the animal. Excretion occurs mainly in the feces, to a lesser extent – in the urine. The plasma half-life is about 7 hours in cats and 12 to 18 hours in dogs. Excretion of unchanged and metabolised fenbendazole (> 90%) in faeces, slightly in urine and milk.
Application
