Combined drug with antimicrobial, acaricidal, fungicidal and anti-inflammatory properties for auricular use.

Neomycin sulfate is an antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides. It acts against gram-positive bacteria – Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Bacillus spp., And most gram-negative – Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp. etc. It penetrates the bacterial cell membrane, binds to specific receptor proteins on the 30S subunit of ribosomes, disrupts the formation of a complex of transport and template RNA and stops protein synthesis.

Nystatin is a polyene antibiotic. Acts fungicidal, effective against pathogenic fungi of the genera Malassezia, Candida, Aspergillus. It binds to the sterols of the fungal cell membrane, due to which it loses the ability to function as a selective barrier.

Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid with acaricidal and insecticidal properties. It disrupts the ionic permeability of sodium channels and inhibits the processes of polarization (repolarization) of the membranes of nerve cells of lice, fleas, ticks and other arthropods, which leads to their paralysis. In dogs and cats destroys mites of the species Otodectes cynotis.

Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic fluorine-containing glucocorticoid with pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, desensitizing and sedative properties. Inhibits the functions of leukocytes and tissue macrophages. Limits the migration of leukocytes in areas of inflammation. Disrupts the ability of macrophages to phagocytose and the formation of interleukin-1. Promotes stabilization of lysosomal membranes by reducing the concentration of proteolytic enzymes at the site of inflammation. Reduces capillary permeability due to the release of histamine.

Neomycin sulfate, nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide are not absorbed through the skin and inner ear. Absorption of permethrin through the skin does not exceed 2%. Absorbed permethrin is rapidly hydrolyzed to inactive metabolites and excreted in the urine after entering the systemic circulation.

Indication

Treatment of dogs, cats with otitis and dermatitis of the external auditory canal caused by bacteria, fungi, mites (including Otodectes cynotis), sensitive to neomycin, permethrin and nystatin.

Method of application and dosage

Before using the drug, hygienic cleaning of the auricle and ear canal is performed. A small amount of ointment (approximately 5 mm) is injected into the ear canal, lightly massaged around the ear and remove excess near the ear. The drug is used once a day until complete recovery.

For otodectosis, the course of treatment is 21 days (the period of the reproductive cycle of the tick Otodectes cynotis), the ointment is applied to both ears, even if only one is affected.

Reservation

Before using the drug, make sure there is no perforation of the eardrum.

When using the tool in the recommended doses, side effects and complications are usually not observed. Overdose may cause skin irritation in the auricle and ear canal. Sometimes older animals have hearing impairments that do not require treatment. Cats may occasionally develop neurological symptoms (locomotor ataxia, tremor). In this case, drug treatment should be discontinued.

Contraindication

Do not prescribe to animals with hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug, perforation of the eardrum, pregnant, lactating and productive animals.

Do not use in cats weighing less than 1.5 kg and kittens under 8 weeks of age.

Do not use concomitantly with other aminoglycosides and auricular drugs.
