Pharmacological properties

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the beta-lactam group. It is a semi-synthetic penicillin sensitive to penicillinase.

Amoxicillin disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase enzymes, causing osmotic imbalance and bacterial death during the growth phase. Amoxicillin has activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria: Actinobacillus lignieresi, Actinobacillus equili, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Escherichia coli (except beta-lactamase-producing strains), Corynebacterium spp., Fusobacteppla. Spp. mirabilis (except beta-lactamase-producing strains), Salmonella spp., Actinomyces bovis, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp. (except beta-lactamase producing strains).

Application

Treatment of cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs, and cats with diseases of the digestive tract (enteritis), respiratory system (pneumonia, bronchopneumonia) and genitourinary system (cystitis, metritis), joints, skin and soft tissues, as well as to prevent postoperative infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin.

Dosage

Intramuscularly (pigs), subcutaneously (cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, cats).

The recommended dose is 15 mg of active substance per kg of body weight of the animal, or 1.0 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight of the animal once a day. The dose may be re-administered after 48 hours.
