Intrafer-200 B12 Iron & Vitamine B12 injection, 100 ml
Description:
Sterile solution for injections. The solution is dark brown.
Composition:
1 ml of the drug contains active ingredients:
iron (in the complex compound of iron (III) hydroxide with low molecular weight dextran) – 200.0 mg;
vitamin B 12 (cyanocobalamin) – 200.0 mcg.
Excipients: water for injections.
Pharmacological properties:
Iron is a component of hemoglobin in erythrocytes, which transport oxygen to the cells of body tissues. The drug contains ferric iron in the form of a stable complex of dextran hydroxide, as an analogue of the physiological form of iron – ferritin. Iron dextran is water-soluble, non-toxic.
After intramuscular injection, iron dextran is rapidly absorbed from the injection site through capillary and lymphatic vessels. It is removed from the blood plasma by the cells of the reticuloendothelial system, in which it is divided into iron and dextran. Iron binds to proteins, forming complexes of hemosiderin, ferritin and transferrin. Vitamin B 12 is essential for DNA synthesis.
The half-life of iron from blood plasma is 5 hours. Small amounts of iron are excreted in the urine. Dextran is metabolized and excreted by the kidneys.
Application:
For the prevention and treatment of calves and piglets with iron deficiency anemia.
Dosage:
The drug is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously in doses (per animal):
calves in the first week of life – 2-4 ml subcutaneously;
piglets on the third day after birth – 1 ml intramuscularly.
