Toltrazuril 50 mg/ml drug against protozoal infections for cattle, pigs, lambs, calves

The Coccidiosis; Eimeria Carpelli

Description:
Thick homogeneous suspension of white color for oral use.
1 ml of the drug contains active substances:
toltrazuril – 50 mg.
Excipients: propylene glycol, docusate sodium, simethicone emulsion, aluminum magnesium silicate, citric acid monohydrate, xanthan gum, sodium propionate (E281), sodium benzoate (E211), purified water.

Pharmacological properties:
ATSvet QP51A, drugs against protozoal infections
Toltarox contains the active substance toltrazuril, derived from the group of triazintrion, with a broad spectrum of action, which is active against Eimeria: Isospora suis, Eimeria arloingi, E. scarab, E. guevarai, E. bovis zuernii, E. alabamensis and other eimeria species of cattle and pigs at the stages of their intracellular development.
Toltrazuril disrupts the intracellular stages of eimeria development by affecting merogonia, micro- and macrogametes. It inhibits the fission of Eimer nuclei and reduces the activity of mitochondria, which are responsible for respiratory metabolism.
In animals, toltrazuril is partially metabolized to form sulfoxide and sulfone derivatives. Subsequently, it is almost completely excreted in the faeces in unchanged form or in the form of toltrazurylsulfon or toltrazurylsulfoxide.
According to the degree of action on the body, Toltarox belongs to the safe substances (class 4), in the recommended doses does not cause complications and side effects in piglets and calves, does not inhibit the formation of immunity to coccidiosis.

Use of the drug:
Treatment and prevention of young cattle (calves) and pigs (piglets) up to 9 months of age with coccidiosis caused by: Eimeria bovis, E. zuernii E. alabamesis (calves) and Isospora suis (piglets).

Dosage:
Toltarox is administered orally individually once in the following doses:
calves from 2 weeks of age – 15 mg toltrazuril / kg body weight, which is equivalent to 3 ml / 10 kg body weight;
piglets for 3-5 days of life – 20 ml of toltrazuril / kg body weight, which is equivalent to 0.4 ml of the drug / kg body weight of the animal, but not less than 0.5 ml and not more than 2 ml per animal.
To achieve the maximum preventive effect and reduce the release of the number of oocysts into the environment, in farms unfavorable for coccidiosis, the drug is used in animals until the first signs of the disease in a herd of animals. The suspension should be thoroughly shaken before use.
