Storage
1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
kanamycin sulfate ……. 250 mg.
Excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate.
Pharmacological properties
Kanamycin is an antibiotic belonging to the group of aminoglycosides. It is active against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella spp., Some species of Proteus spp. And Serratia spp., Pseudomonas aerulacuso, Mycoplasma spp.
Kanamycin binds to the 30s subunit of the ribosomal membrane and blocks protein synthesis in the bacterial cell.
The drug is rapidly absorbed from the injection site. The maximum concentration of the drug in the serum is observed one hour after intramuscular injection. Therapeutic concentration is maintained in the body from 8 to 12 hours. Cantamycin also penetrates the pleural and abdominal cavities and the placenta. Actively excreted through the kidneys.
Application
Treatment of bronchopneumonia, septicemia, salmonellosis, endometritis, metritis, mastitis, cystitis, nephritis, abscesses, dermatitis in cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, dogs, cats and birds.
Dosage
Intramuscularly, subcutaneously or slowly intravenously in a dose:
cattle, horses: 2 ml per 100 kg of live weight once a day;
calves, foals: 2 ml per 50 kg of live weight once a day;
sheep, pigs: 2 ml per 50 kg of live weight once a day;
dogs, cats: 0.1 ml per 1 kg of live weight once a day;
bird: 0.1 ml per 1 kg of live weight once a day.
The course of treatment is 3-5 days.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to kanamycin.
Withdrawal period
Slaughter of animals for meat and consumption of milk for human consumption is allowed in 6 and 4 days, respectively, after the last administration of the drug. Until this time, meat and milk are fed to unproductive animals or disposed of (depending on the opinion of a veterinarian).
