Penstrep-400 Procaine & Benzathine penicillin & Dihydrostreptomycin injection
Description:
Sterile white suspension for injection.
Storage:
1 ml of the drug contains active substances:
Benzylpenicillin procaine 200,000 IU
Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate 200 mg
Excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, procaine hydrochloride, sodium citrate, sodium phosphate, sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, sodium hydroxide, lecithin, cimeticone, xanthan.
Pharmacological properties:
The combination of procaine benzylpenicillin and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate acts synergistically.
Benzylpenicillin procaine is a bactericidal antibiotic of the penicillin series that acts on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria: Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix, Actinomyces spp., Paslacoilus, Hemophilus. spp. The mechanism of action is to disrupt the synthesis of peptidoglycan – a mucopeptide of the cell membrane, which leads to inhibition of the synthesis of the cell wall of the microorganism, inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
Dihydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that acts bactericidal on gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms (Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli, Klebsiella spp., Staphylococcus spp. Leptospira spp., Francisella y tularens). Is inactive against anaerobes. Disrupts protein synthesis in bacterial ribosomes by inactivating transpeptidase. Bactericidal aminoglycosides are due to the ability to disrupt protein synthesis due to binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome.
Application:
Treatment of cattle, sheep, goats and pigs with arthritis and mastitis, as well as diseases of the digestive tract, respiratory system, genitourinary system caused by microorganisms sensitive to benzylpenicillin and dihydrostreptomycin, namely: Campylobacter spp., Clostri. Corynebacterium spp., E. Coli, Erysipelothrix spp., Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Listeria spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp.
Dosage:
Intramuscularly in a dose:
cattle – 1.0 ml per 20 kg of animal weight for 3 days.
calves, goats, sheep, pigs – 1.0 ml per 10 kg of animal weight for 3 days.
Shake the vial thoroughly before use.
If the dose when administered exceeds 20 ml – for cattle, 10 ml – for pigs and 5 ml – for sheep and goats, the injection volume is divided in half and injected in different places.
Contraindication:
Hypersensitivity to penicillins and dihydrostreptomycin. Do not use in rabbits, anteaters, hamsters and other small herbivores, as well as animals with impaired renal function.
Do not use concomitantly with tetracyclines, macrolides, chloramphenicol and lincosamides.
