Spectrum Of Activity:
Tylosin, a macrolide antibiotic, is active against particularly Grampositive bacteria like Streptococcus spp. and Staphylococcus spp. (including Staphylococcus aureus), some Spirochetes (including Leptospira): Actinomyces, Mycoplasmas (PPLO), Haemophilus pertussis, Moraxella bovis and some Gramnegative cocci.
Indications:
Prevention and treatment of infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to tyosin, like Mycoplasma-infections (C.R.D., Synusitis, enzootic pneumonia), enteritis (Treponema hyodysneteriae) and pneumonia infections (Pasteurella multicida) in cattle, pigs and poultry (broilers).
Uses:
Calves (up to 3 months of age): treatment of animals suffering from infectious enteritis, pneumonia, mycoplasmosis caused by microorganisms sensitive to tylosin. Pigs: treatment of animals suffering from dysentery, necrotic enteritis, enzootic bronchopneumonia caused by microorganisms sensitive to tylosin. Chickens, turkeys: treatment of birds suffering from mycoplasmosis, chronic respiratory diseases, infectious sinusitis, necrotic enteritis caused by microorganisms sensitive to tylosin. Before use, the recommended dose of Tyсlosin is dissolved in a small amount of water (water is added to the granulate), and then this solution is diluted with water to the required concentration.
Dosage :
Orally in doses: calves (up to 3 months of age) – 10-20 mg of tylosin per 1 kg of body weight or 11-22 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight, twice a day with milk or milk substitute, for 7-14 days; pigs – 20 mg of tylosin per 1 kg of body weight or 22 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight for 10 days for the treatment of pneumonia; 5-10 mg of tylosin per 1 kg of body weight or 5.5-11 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight for 7 days for the treatment of ileitis; turkeys – 75-100 mg of tylosin per 1 kg of body weight or 82.5-100 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight, once a day for 3-5 days; chickens – 75-100 mg of tylosin per 1 kg of body weight or 82.5-100 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight, once a day for 3-5 days for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases; 20 mg of tylosin per 1 kg of body weight or 22 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight once a day for 3 days for the treatment of necrotizing enteritis. Water with the drug must be changed every 24 hours.
Contraindications:
Do not use in animals with increased sensitivity to tylosin or other macrolides. Do not use in animals with liver function disorders. Do not use in case of resistance of microorganisms to tylosin or cross-resistance to other macrolides. Do not use in horses due to risk of appendicitis. Do not use within 1 week before vaccination or during vaccination with drugs, the effectiveness of which may decrease under the influence of tylosin. Do not use simultaneously with lincosamides and aminoglycoside antibiotics due to a decrease in the antibacterial effect of tylosin.
Reservation:
Adverse effect Pigs may experience temporary symptoms such as diarrhea, pruritus, erythema, vulva swelling, rectal edema, and prolapse. These side effects disappear within 48-72 hours from the start of treatment. Special precautions for use The use of the drug is recommended after determining the sensitivity of the causative agent to its action. Insufficient dosage or insufficient duration of treatment can cause the development of resistance in microorganisms. Use during pregnancy, lactation, and pregnancy The drug is used for pregnant animals only when the benefit outweighs the risk. Withdrawal period (withdrawal period) Slaughter of animals and poultry for meat is allowed for 12 days (calves), 1 day (pigs and chickens), and 2 days (turkeys) after the last use of the drug. The meat received by the specified deadline is disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the opinion of the veterinary medical doctor. Egg consumption is unlimited.
