Description
Transparent yellow solution.
Structure
1 ml of the drug contains active ingredients:
tilmicosin – 50 mg;
enrofloxacin – 50 mg;
trimethoprim – 25 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Tilmicosin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the macrolide group. It is effective against the respiratory pathogens M. gallisepticum, M. synoviae, P. multocida, and Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale. Tilmicosin inhibits protein synthesis in microorganisms by interacting with the ribosomes of bacterial cells.
Enrofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the group of fluoroquinolones. The drug has an antimicrobial effect against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Pseudomonas, E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Salmonella spp. ., Pasteurella spp. And others), and also acts on mycoplasmas and chlamydia. The mechanism of action is associated with the inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase, which leads to a violation of bacterial DNA replication.
Trimethoprim is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent from the diaminopyrimidine group. The drug has an antimicrobial effect against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp .; Pasteurella spp .; Enterobacter spp., Proteus spp .; Shigella spp .; Staphylococcus spp .; Streptococcus spp .; Haemophilophilus spp .; Chlamydia), and also acts on Toxoplasma and Coccidia. The mechanism of action is associated with the suppression of bacterial dihydrofolic acid reductase.

Enrofloxacin, inhibits the bacterial gyrase enzyme which has an improtant role in DNA replication. The inhibition of this enzyme, blocks certain stages of bacterial synthesis, causing functional disorders leading to death of the bacteria. This gives Baytril a different mode of action in comparison with other antibiotics. Enrofloxacin has a broad-spectrum anti-bacterial efficacy, including Mycoplasmas, gram negative and gram positive bacteria as well as anaerobic patogenic bacteria.
