Trimez tablets (Sudfadimesine, trimethoprim)

Composition:

1 tablet (1 g) contains active ingredients:

Sudfadimesine – 0.4 g;

trimethoprim – 0.08 g.

Pharmacological properties:

Trimezin is a combination drug that contains Sudfadimesine and trimethoprim.

The mechanism of action consists in inhibition by each component of the activity of two different enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of folic acid in bacteria. The two-stage action of the drug significantly increases its effectiveness and reduces the possibility of the development of resistant strains of microorganisms.

Sulfadimezin is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide. It acts bacteriostatically on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Borysiella spp., Protedeus spp., Protedeus spp. ., Toxoplasma spp. And Rickettsia spp.). The mechanism of action is associated with para-aminobenzoic acid and competitive inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which leads to a disruption in the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.

Application:

Dosage:

Orally with food, drinking water or milk at a dose of 1 g (1 tablet) of the drug per 15 kg of animal body weight. The dose is set once a day or divided into 2 portions and set every 12 hours. During treatment, animals are provided with free access to water. The drug is used until the clinical signs of the disease disappear and for the next two days (in the treatment of salmonellosis of calves – 5 days), but not more than 10 days.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Sudfadimesine and trimethoprim.Do not use in animals with impaired function of the hematopoietic organs, liver, kidneys. It is forbidden to use Trimezin for lactating bitches and sows.

Warning:
