Description

White tablets of ellipsoidal shape, yellowish at the break, divided by a strip into two equal parts.

Storage

One tablet (339 mg) contains the active substances:

• pyrantel embonate – 230 mg;
• praziquantel – 20 mg.

Pharmacological action

ATCvet QP52A, anti-trematodic, anti-nematode and anti-cestode veterinary drugs (QP52AA51 praziquantel, combinations)

Drontal® for cats is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic drug that contains the active substances praziquantel, a pyrazinisoquinolone derivative, and pyrantel embonate, a tetrahydropyrimidine derivative.

Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed by the outer shell of tapeworms, resulting in damage and contraction. The consequence of violation of the penetrating properties of membranes is paralysis of parasites.

Pyrantel acts as a cholinergic antagonist, causing spastic paralysis of roundworms by depolarizing neuromuscular blockade.

Application

Deworming of cats with nematodes and cestodes: Toxocara cati (syn. Tustah), Ancylostoma sp., Dipylidium caninum, Hydatigera (Taenia) taeniaeformis, Mesocestoides spp., E. multilocularis., Joyeuxiella pasqualei.

Dosage

The drug is administered orally once, tablets can be administered directly inside (per os) or in crushed form with meat or sausage, without fasting, in a dose of 1 tablet / 4 kg of body weight of the animal (equivalent to 5 mg of praziquantel and 57, 5 mg pyrantel embonate / kg body weight):

Do not use for kittens weighing up to 1 kg.

The drug can be used in kittens from 3 weeks of age.

It is recommended to deworm animals once a quarter.

Kittens against roundworms (roundworm) are recommended to deworm twice: at intervals of 14 days for 2-3 weeks after weaning.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: To assure proper dosage, weigh the cat prior to treatment. Select the size of whole or partial tablets needed for the cat from the following table.

1 kilogram (kg) is equal to 2.20 pounds (lbs).1 kg = 2.20 lb

Not for use in kittens less than two months of age or weighing less than 2 lbs.

WARNING: Keep out of reach of children. Consult your veterinarian before administering to sick or pregnant animals.

Contraindication

Do not use the drug in animals during pregnancy.

Foil blisters of 8 tablets. Three blisters (24 tablets) are packed in a cardboard box.

Storage

Store the drug in a closed package of the manufacturer, in a dry place inaccessible to children and animals, separate from food and feed, at a temperature of 0 to 30 ° C.
