Transparent solution of pale yellow or yellow color.
Storage
100 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
- enrofloxacin – 10 g.
Excipients: potassium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, highly purified water.
Pharmacological action
PBX vet classification code QJ01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use. QJ01MA90 – Enrofloxacin.
Enrofloxacin belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones. The drug inhibits the synthesis of enzyme – DNA gyrase, which is the main factor in the catalysis of DNA in the nucleus of microbial cells, resulting in rapid bactericidal action, the degree of which depends on the concentration of enrofloxacin, with the death of sensitive cells within 20 minutes his actions. Enrofloxacin is effective in both the latent phase and the bacterial reproduction phase.
The drug is effective against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms: E. coli, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp., Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Klebsiella spp., Staurelococus, and Staurelococcus. .
Enrofloxacin is rapidly absorbed and completely distributed throughout the body. In tissues it reaches concentrations 2-3 times higher than the concentration in the blood. Particularly high concentrations of enrofloxacin are observed in the lungs, liver, kidneys, bones and organs of the lymphatic system. Excreted in bile and urine.
Application
Treatment of chickens (broilers and young stock), turkeys with colibacillosis, salmonellosis, necrotic enteritis, staphylococcus, streptococcus, mycoplasmosis, pseudomonosis, pasteurellosis caused by microorganisms sensitive to enrofloxacin.
Dosage
Orally at a dose of 0.5 ml per 1 liter of drinking water for 3 days, with salmonellosis – for 5 days. The solution is prepared based on the daily requirement of birds in water. During treatment, the bird should receive only water containing the drug.

Baytril 10% Bayer ORAL Solution (Enrofloxacin)
Baytril, which is a derivative of quinolone carboxylic acid, is an anti-infective chemotherapeutic medicine with specially high bactericidial effect. Enrofloxacin, inhibits the bacterial gyrase enzyme which has an improtant role in DNA replication. The inhibition of this enzyme, blocks certain stages of bacterial synthesis, causing functional disorders leading to death of the bacteria. This gives Baytril a different mode of action in comparison with other antibiotics. Enrofloxacin has a broad-spectrum anti-bacterial efficacy, including Mycoplasmas, gram negative and gram positive bacteria as well as anaerobic patogenic bacteria.

Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of bacterial gyrase enzyme, leading to disruption of bacterial DNA replication.
After parenteral administration of enrofloxacin rapidly and completely absorbed due to high bioavailability. Its maximum concentration is reached after an average of 6 hours. Therapeutic concentration is maintained within 2 days. Enrofloxacin partially metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine and bile.
Enrofloxacin has a high level of distribution. Thus, the concentration in the tissues and organs is usually higher than in serum. The bodies, which can be observed the highest concentration – the lungs, liver, kidneys, intestines.
