Marbofort 2% (Marbocyl 20 mg analogue), Marbofloxacin
Description: solution for injection of a yellowish (with a green or brownish tinge) color.
Composition: marbofloxacin – 20 mg, filler – up to 1 ml.
Pharmacological properties: marbofloxacin is an antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone group. Active against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Enterococcus spp.) and gram-negative microorganisms (E. coli, Pseudomonas spp., Haemophilus spp., Actinobacillus spp., Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Citrobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Moraxella spp., Brucella spp., Klebsiella spp., Morganella morganii, Shigella spp.), as well as chlamydia and mycoplasmas. Marbofloxacin is not active against obligate anaerobes. The mechanism of action of marbofloxacin is to inhibit the replication of microbial DNA.
The drug is characterized by high bioavailability. After subcutaneous or intramuscular administration, marbofloxacin is rapidly absorbed from the injection site, the therapeutic concentration in organs and tissues is maintained for 2 days. Marbofloxacin is excreted almost unchanged in urine and feces.
Application: prescribed for young cattle, pigs, dogs and cats for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory, digestive, genitourinary systems, soft tissues caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug, including bronchopneumonia, wound and surgical infections, etc.
Dosage: Marbofort 2% is administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, intravenously at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of body weight daily for 3-5 days.
It is not recommended to inject more than 20 ml of the drug into one place.
Contraindications: individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. Do not use in parallel with bacteriostatic antibiotics (tetracyclines, macrolides, sulfonamides). Do not use in dogs under 12 months of age, large breed puppies under 18 months of age.
Withdrawal: cattle meat – 4 days, pigs – 3 days.
Release form: bottles of 100 ml.
Storage: in a dry dark place at a temperature of 10-25 0 С.
