Otigel is a complex drug for the treatment of otitis of various or mixed etiology
Active substances: permethrin, neomycin, nystatin, triamcinolone.
Active substances provide: antiparasitic (paralyzing effect on ticks Otodectes cynotis), antimicrobial (activity against pathogenic Gr + and Gr microorganisms), antifungal effect, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-exudative action.

1 g of the drug contains active substances: permethrin 10.0 mg, triamcinolone acetonide 1.0 mg, neomycin sulfate 3500 IU, nystatin 100 000 IU

Pharmacological properties of

Neomycin sulfate is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group that has a bactericidal effect against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Staphylococcus albus, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella spp., Proteus, E. coli, Pseudomonas, etc.
Nystatin belongs to the group of polyene antibiotics, has fungistatic and fungicidal effects. Nystatin is active against: Malassezia spp., Candida spp., Cryptococcus spp., Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton spp. etc.
Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic corticosteroid that is based on anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and sedative effects.
Permethrin – a synthetic pyrethroid type I has acaricidal and insecticidal properties. It disrupts the work of sodium channels and blocks the transmission of nerve impulses in insects. Otodectes cynotis mites are especially sensitive to permethrin.
Application
Treatment of dogs and cats with otitis and dermatitis of the external auditory canal caused by bacteria, fungi and mites sensitive to neomycin, permethrin and nystatin.
Dosage
Before using the OTIGEL it is necessary to carry out hygienic cleaning of external auditory passages.
To use the OTIGEL it is necessary:
- attach a soft nozzle to the aluminum tube;
- enter a small amount of the drug (the size of a pea) into the ear canal;
- then gently massage the area at the base of the ear;
- remove excess drug in the auricle.
OTIGEL® is used once a day for 10 days.
If necessary, the course of treatment should be repeated. The drug must be administered in both ears, even if one ear is affected.
Contraindications
Do not use the drug for animals with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as with perforation of the eardrum. Do not use the drug in cats weighing less than 1.5 kg, as well as kittens under 8 weeks.
Caution
Before using the drug it is necessary to check the integrity of the eardrum.
After treatment, there may be mild and moderate redness of the ears, does not require specific therapy.
In some cases, hearing impairment is found, usually temporarily, and especially in older animals.
In cats, neurological clinical symptoms such as ataxia and tremor may occur in very rare cases. In this case, treatment should be discontinued. After drug withdrawal, these symptoms disappear.
