Otoflox ear drops, 10 ml (ivermectin,clotrimazole,florfenicol,betamethasone)
Composition
1 ml of the drug contains active ingredients:
- ivermectin – 1 mg;
- clotrimazole – 10 mg;
- florfenicol – 2.5 mg;
- betamethasone (in the form of dipropionate) – 1 mg.
Excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide, ethanol, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol.
Pharmacological properties
Otoflox acts as an antiparasitic, fungicidal, antimicrobial; has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties. The pharmacological action of Otoflox is due to the properties of ivermectin, clotrimazole, fluorfenicol and betamethasone.
Ivermectin belongs to the group of avermectins produced by microorganisms of the Streptomyces avermitilis group. Ivermectin in nematodes, ticks, insects and gadfly larvae enhances the connection of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) with special receptors on the nerve endings of the parasite, thereby blocking the innervation of the parasite, causing its paralysis and death;
Ivermectin leads to the death of the following ectoparasite species: Otodectes, Haematopinus, Sarcoptes, Demodex, Gastrophilus, Hypoderma, Linognathus, Damalina, Solenopotes, Hematobia, Psoroptes, Oestrus, Melophagus, etc.
Clotrimazole is an imidazole derivative. The effect of clotrimazole is associated with a violation of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of fungi. As a result, the structure and properties of membranes change, and cell lysis is observed. Dermatophytes, yeast fungi (genus Candida, Torulopsis gla b rata, Rhodotorula), mold fungi, as well as pathogens Pityriasis versicolor (pityriasis versicolor) and erythrasma are sensitive to clotrimazole. In addition, clotrimazole acts antimicrobially against gram-positive (staphylococci, streptococci) and gram-negative bacteria (Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis), as well as Trichomonas vaginalis, Malasse z ia furfur, Cor y nebacterium minussimum.
Fluorfenicol is a thiamphenicol derivative in which the hydroxyl group is replaced by a fluorine atom, which determines its antibacterial activity against acetyltransferase-synthesizing bacteria.
Fluorfenicol inhibits protein synthesis in bacterial cells. In the protoplasm, it binds to the 70S ribosomal subunits, suppressing the enzymatic activity of peptidyl transferase, thus reducing the synthesis of proteins in the ribosomes of the corresponding bacteria.
Fluorfenicol acts bacteriostatically on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, namely: Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Protemaophil spp., Pseudomonas spp., Protemaophus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Happemus spp., Pseudomonas spp. ., Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp.
Betamethasone belongs to the group of synthetic corticosteroids, has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antipruritic, antiproliferative effects.
Target animals
cats, dogs
Indications for use
The drug Otoflox is intended for the treatment of small unproductive animals (dogs, cats and decorative rabbits) suffering from otitis media of various etiologies, including those caused by ectoparasites and / or complicated by fungal or bacterial infections.
Route of administration and dosage
When treating animals with otitis media, the auricles and ear canal are preliminarily cleaned of earwax, exudate and scabs. Then, the drug is necessarily instilled into each ear in a dose according to the table 2 times a day for 5-10 days, depending on the clinical manifestations.
Dosing of the drug
Animal body weight | Required number of drops (per ear) |
up to 1 kg | one |
from 1 to 5 kg | 2 |
from 5 to 10 kg | 3 |
from 10 to 15 kg | four |
more than 15 kg | five |
For the purpose of better processing, the auricle is folded in half lengthwise and its base is lightly massaged.
Contraindications
Do not use on sick and malnourished animals; animals during lactation, puppies, rabbits and kittens up to 10 weeks of age, as well as animals sensitive to the components of the drug.
Do not use ivermectin on sensitive dog breeds (collies and their subspecies: Sheltie, Bobtail, etc.).
