Vetampro (amprolium hydrochloride) oral solution, 1000 ml
Description
Oily liquid from light yellow to dark yellow.
The composition
of 1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
amprolium hydrochloride – 125.0 mg.
Pharmacological properties of
ATCvetQP51A, drugs against protozoan infections (QP52AX09, amprolium).
The active substance of the drug, amprolium hydrochloride, has a wide spectrum of anticoccidial activity, it is effective against chicken E. tenella, i.e. necatrix, i.e. acervulina, i.e. praecox, i.e. maxima, i.e. brunette, i.e. mitis;Β of turkeys – E. adenoeides, that is, gappapavonis, that is, meleagrimitis;Β pheasants – E. phasiani, i.e. colchici, i.e. duodenalis;Β rabbits – E. stiedae, that is, perforons, that is, magna;Β lambs – E. arloingii, that is, Ahsata, E. faurei;Β calves – E. bovis and E. zurnii.
The anticoccidial effect of amprolium is due to the fact that its chemical structure is close to thiamine (vitamin B1), which is necessary for the vital activity of Eimeria.Β In parasite cells, amprolium disrupts carbohydrate metabolism, which leads to their death.
It is known that amprolium hydrochloride mainly suppresses the development of Eimeria at the stage of schizogony of the first and second generation and is an antagonist of vitamin B1.Β It almost does not penetrate through the cell membranes of the intestinal mucosa of birds and mammals, so the drug is practically non-toxic in therapeutic doses.Β The main part of amprolium (up to 97%) is excreted from the body in an unchanged form. The drug suppresses the formation of immunity against coccidia, is compatible with vitamins and feed additives used in poultry farming.
Belongs to low-toxic compounds.
