Kloziver is a combination drug, comprising closantel and ivermectin. Closantel is a salicylamide’s derivative, providing antiparasitic action. Closantel’s mode of action centers around inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation. Specific action centers around ATP stimulation, leading to stopping of a phosphorylation process and electrons’ transfer, changing suchwise parasite’s energy metabolism. This leads to its death. Ivermectin refers to compounds, which are produced by Streptomices avermitis. Closantel has a wide range of actions, effective in the treatment of parasitic diseases of cattle and small ruminants caused by nematodes, trematodes, and arthropods.
Closantel is rapidly absorbed after oral or intramuscular administration. The maximum concentration in the blood of sheep is reached after 8-24 hours after administration, the blood of cattle – 24-48 hours.
The half-decomposition is approximately 12-15 days. Most part of the used closantel is concentrated in the lungs and kidneys, and the main way of its metabolism is renewable deionization.
