Pharmacological properties

The combination of two active substances: closantel and praziquantel, provides a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action in relation to the main most common causative agents of nematodes, cestodoses and trematodes, as well as a size of causative agents of arachnoentomoses, which parasitize sheep, goats and dogs.

Closantel is a synthetic compound derived from the salicylanide group. Its action causes the inhibition and arrest of the process of electron transfer, which leads to changes in the energy metabolism of parasites and leads to their further death. As a highly effective anthelmintic, closantel acts on larvae and sexually mature nematodes (especially hematophages), arthropod trematodes:

in sheep and goats against strongylatosis of the gastrointestinal canal (Bunomostum spp., Haemonchus spp., Nematodirus spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Trichostrongylus axei, Chabertia ovina, etc.) and trematodes (Fastiola hepatica, Dumcoelanceium , Eurytrema pancreaticum, etc.);

in dogs against ankylostomatidosis of the Ancylostomatidae family (Ancylostoma caninum, A. braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephaia, etc.);

in these animal species against arthropods in the larva-imago phase of different localization of parasitism: Oestrus ovis, Crivellia silenus, Wohlfahrtia magnifica, W. trina, Lucilia sericata, Bovicola ovis, B. caprae, Melophagus ovinus, Linognathus ovillus, L. caprae, L. setotus, Trichodectes canis and the like, scabies mites of the families Psoroptidae, Sarcoptidae, Demodecidae, ixodid mites and the like.

Praziquantel is an anthelmintic from the pyrazinisoquinoline group. It causes a wide spectrum of action in relation to most species of pathogens of trematodoses that are pathogenic for mammals: opisthorchiasis, metorchiasis, clonorchiasis (Opisthorchiidae family), schistosomiasis (Schistosomatidae family), paragonimiasis (Paragonimidae family), etc .; as well as regarding the causative agents of intestinal cestodoses:

in sheep and goats from the family Anoplocephalidae (Moniezia spp.), Avitellinidae (Thysaniezia giardi, Avitellina centripunctata, Stilesia spp.), acts on the early stages of most laurel cestodoses;

in carnivores – from the family Taeniidae (Taenia spp., Echinococcus spp.), Dilepididae (Dipylidium caninum), Mesocestoididae (Mesocestoides spp.), Diphyllobothriidae (D. latum, D. minus).

Application

Therapeutic and prophylactic treatment of sheep, goats, dogs with a size of parasitoses caused by endo- and ectoparasites.

Treatment-and-prophylactic treatment of sheep and goats is carried out after placing them in a stall and in the spring before pasture, and treatment – if indicated.

The drug is administered mainly subcutaneously, and its intramuscular administration is also allowed. With a single application to animals over 4 ml of the drug, the dose is divided into two parts and injected into different places.

If sheep are significantly affected by acariform ticks (families Psoroptidae, Sarcoptidae), sheep fleece (Melophagus ovinus), after 12-14 days, it is advisable to repeat the treatment with the same drug or Brontel 10% ® or Brovermectin 1% in recommended doses.

Dosing

Each batch of the drug is tested on a small size of animals before group use. In the absence of complications, the drug is used to treat the entire livestock.

Drug dose:

sheep, goats – 0.75-1.0 ml / 10 kg of body weight;

dogs – 1.2–1.5 ml / 10 kg of body weight.

Contraindications

Do not use simultaneously with organophosphate compounds.

Cautions

In some animals, a slight swelling may appear at the injection site, which disappears after 2-3 days.

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 28 days after the last use of the drug. The use of milk for food is allowed after 14 days. The meat and milk received before the specified time is disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinary doctor.

Release form

Glass or polymer bottles of 10, 50, 100 or 200 ml.

Storage

Store in a dry, dark place, out of reach of children, at a temperature of 5 to 25 ° C.

Shelf life is 2 years.
