Oxy-100 Oxytetracycline – 100 mg Interchemie, Netherlands
Oxy-100
Sterile Injection Solution – For Veterinary Use
Composition in 1 ml of a solution: Oxytetracycline hydrochloride ……100 mg
Excipient …………… up to 1 ml
Description: Oxy-100® looks like a clear solution, light brown in color.
Pharmacological properties: Oxytetracycline hydrochloride belongs to the group of tetracycline antibiotics. It is obtained from the culture of the fungus Streptomyces rimosus. Easily penetrates the cell membrane. Acting on the ribosomes of bacteria, it disrupts the protein synthesis of the microbial cell in most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including streptococci, staphylococci, corynebacteria, clostridia, erysipelotrix, Pasteurella, salmonella, pseudomonas, actinobacteria, Escherichia riche, spicherichia. When administered intramuscularly, oxytetracycline is rapidly absorbed from the injection site and reaches maximum tissue concentrations approximately 30-50 minutes after administration. The therapeutic level of the antibiotic remains in the body for 24 hours. It is excreted from the body mainly with urine and bile secretion, in lactating animals – with milk.
Indications for use:
Cattle: respiratory diseases, mastitis, metritis (Campylobacter), wound infections caused by E. coli and Streptococcus pyogenes, pasteurellosis – Pasteurella hemolytic and Pasteurella multocida, hoof rot, anaplasmosis, keratoconjunctivitis.
Pigs: respiratory diseases – Haemophilus, pasteurellosis caused by Pasteurella hemolytic and Pasteurella multocida, pleurisy, mastitis, atrophic rhinitis – Bordetella bronchiseptic, MMA syndrome – Streptococcus agalactiae and Streptococcus uberis, purulent septic arthritis, umbilical cordneccus abscess, wound and postpartum infections, erysipelas – Erysipelothrix rhusiopathia.
Sheep and goats: respiratory diseases, enzootic abortion, hoof rot, metritis, mastitis, peritonitis caused by Salmonella dublin and Streptococcus pyogenes, wound infections – Corynebacterium pyogenes, E. coli, and Staphylococcus aureus.
In addition, Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Campylobacter, Mycoplasma, Rickettsia, Chlamydia exhibit high sensitivity to the drug.
Before using drugs, you should check the sensitivity of pathogens to oxytetracycline.
Contraindications: Cannot be used simultaneously with corticosteroids and estrogens. Due to the pronounced decrease in the antibacterial effect of oxytetracycline, the drug is not recommended to be used simultaneously with antibiotics of the penicillin and cephalosporin series, as well as in conjunction with quinolones.
Side effects: Erythema and itching may occur at the injection site, which quickly passes. If necessary (persistent allergic reactions), intravenous administration of calcium preparations (calcium chloride) is recommended.
Dosage and method of administration: The drug is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously, once a day.
For adult animals, 1 ml of Oxy-100® is prescribed per 10 – 20 kg of the animal’s live weight. The course of treatment is 3-5 days.
Young animals have prescribed 2 ml of the drug per 10 – 20 kg of the animal’s live weight, for 3-5 days.
For one injection site, cattle should be injected no more than 20 ml, calves, and pigs – no more than 10 ml, and piglets and small ruminants – no more than 5 ml of the drug. If no noticeable clinical improvement occurs within 2-3 days, it is recommended to retest for the sensitivity of microorganisms to oxytetracycline.
The period of the complete elimination of the drug from the body of animals:
animal meat …………… 12 days
milk ………………… 5 days
Restrictions on use: Meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified periods, is used directly for feeding animals or for the production of meat and bone meal. After heat treatment, milk is used only for animal feeding.
Storage: The drug is stored in a dry, dark place at a temperature of 15 – 25 ° C.
