Pharmacological properties
Veterinary antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides. The drug has a bactericidal effect mainly against gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria , including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Proteus spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Campylobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Brachyspira hyodyy
Not active against anaerobic microorganisms.
The mechanism of antibacterial action of apramycin is due to inhibition of protein synthesis of microorganisms by irreversible binding to the 30S subunit of ribosomes.
When administered orally, Apramycin water-soluble powder is poorly absorbed and reaches a high antibacterial concentration in the gastrointestinal tract. Apramycin is not biotransformed in animals and after oral administration is excreted unchanged in active form, mainly in the feces and partly in the urine.
In the recommended doses does not show embryotoxic, teratogenic, local irritant and allergic effects.
Apramycin water-soluble powder according to the degree of impact on the body is a low-risk substance (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.001-76).
Indications for use
Treatment of gastrointestinal diseases caused by susceptible microorganisms in farm animals (including calves, piglets, lambs and chickens):
- gastroenterocolitis of pigs, sheep and poultry of salmonellosis, colibacillosis, pseudomonas and coccal etiology;
- colibacillosis of broiler chickens and laying hens;
- toxic dyspepsia of calves.
Method of application and dosage
Apramycin water-soluble powder is administered to animals orally with drinking water, and to calves and lambs – with milk or whole milk replacer (WHC) once a day for 5-7 days in the following doses:
Animal species | Dose of Apramycin water-soluble powder |
piglets | 15-25 mg / kg body weight |
The calves | 40-80 mg / kg body weight |
The lambs | 20 mg / kg body weight |
Repair young laying hens, broiler chickens | 50-100 mg / kg live weight or 0.5-1 g / l water |
Before use, a single dose of Apramycin water-soluble powder should be dissolved in 5-10 times the volume of liquid (water, milk or ZCM), adding it to the powder, then allow the solution to stand for several minutes, mix again and bring the volume to the desired final concentration.
When using Apramipin water-soluble powder with drinking water (for broiler chickens, laying hens), the calculated dose of antibiotic is recommended to mix with half the daily volume of water consumed. Since iron ions reduce the activity of the antibiotic, the drug solution can not be prepared in rusty metal containers.
The ready aqueous solution of Apramycin water-soluble powder should be used within 3 days, and the solution in milk or ZCM within 24 hours after cooking.
