Description:

Composition:

One package contains the active substance:

megestrol acetate – 50 mg.

Excipients: special liquid up to 2.5 ml.

Pharmacological properties:

Megestrol acetate is a synthetic progestogen, affects the hypothalamic-pituitary system of the animal, blocks the secretion by the adenohypophysis of gonadotropic hormones (follicle-stimulating and luteinizing). Decreased levels of these hormones in the blood of animals leads to a violation of the folliculogenesis of females, which provides an anti-ovulatory effect on the gonads of animals. As a result, the heat is delayed, suppressed or interrupted, sexual desire is reduced.

After applying the full course dose, sexual desire in animals resumes in 3-4 months.

Megestrol acetate is well absorbed in the digestive tract and excreted in the urine within 1-2 days.

Application:

The drug is used to delay or interrupt heat in cats and bitches, prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Dosage:

Shake the vial thoroughly before use.

The drug is recommended for use with food or directly applied to the tip of the animal’s nose or the root of the animal’s tongue before feeding in doses:

heat retention in cats: 5 mg (8 drops) for 10-14 days between heats during the entire time of required heat retention, but not more than 18 months. Cats in which heat occurs more often than normal are given 5 mg (8 drops) weekly;

interruption of heat in cats: 5 mg (8 drops) per day, not later than 3 days after the onset of signs of sexual arousal, for 3-7 days before the disappearance of signs of heat. Cats weighing more than 5 kg use 7.5-10 mg (12-16 drops) per day;

delay of heat in bitches: 0.5 mg / kg or 5 mg (8 drops) per day per 10 kg of body weight for 7-15 days before the beginning of heat, during all the time required delay of heat, but not more than 30 days. Heat begins a few days after stopping the drug, when using the drug for 30 days – in 3-6 months;

prevention of unwanted pregnancy:

Contraindication:

• Genital diseases (pyometritis, metritis, endometritis, etc.).
• Tumors of the mammary glands, diabetes.
• Animals that have not reached sexual maturity.
• Animals during pregnancy and lactation.

Reservation:
