DESCRIPTION
1 g of the drug contains:
sulfadimethoxine sodium salt – 300 mg
sulfadiazine sodium salt – 300 mg
trimethoprim – 120 mg
Description
The powder is light yellow, homogeneous, with a faint specific odor, soluble in water.
Pharmacological properties
Combined broad-spectrum antibacterial drug against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria – Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Neisseria spp., Clostridium spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp., E. coli, Salmonella spp. , Citrobacter spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Enterobacter spp., Yersinia enterocolitica, Chlamidya spp., Vibrio cholerae, etc., some of the simplest – Pneumocystis carinii, Coccidia, Toxoplasma.
Sulfanilamides and trimethoprim (a derivative of diaminopyrimidine) block enzymes in two successive stages of folic acid biosynthesis in the bacterial cell, which leads to inhibition of bacterial growth, cessation of their reproduction and death. The combination of active substances in the drug reduces the likelihood of resistant forms of pathogenic microflora.
Sulfanilamides are rapidly distributed throughout the body, their therapeutic concentration is detected in the serum within 25 hours. The concentration of sulfonamides in the kidneys is higher, and in the skin, liver and lungs is lower than in blood plasma.
Trimethoprim is rapidly distributed throughout the body, its maximum concentration is reached 4 hours after administration. Concentrations of trimethoprim in the lungs, liver and kidneys are higher than in blood plasma.
Sulfanilamides and trimethoprim are excreted by the kidneys by glomerular filtration and tubular secretion. A small amount is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the bile.
